The Hawker 800 is a mid-size twinjet private jet. It is a development of the British Aerospace BAe 125, and was assembled by Hawker Beechcraft.
The first flight for a H800 took place on June 26, 1983 and was a redesign of the Hawker 700 series of aircraft. A number of modifications and changes took place over the 700 series, the most striking change, being the redesigned cockpit windscreen.
Also, a modified rear fuselage fairing, as well as a glass cockpit and uprated to Garrett TFE731-5R-1H engines, also improving the wing by incorporating new outer wing sections. This helped to reduce drag and improve aerodynamic efficiency.
In 1994 Raytheon (which bought Beech Aircraft Corporation in 1980) acquired Corporate Jets. The new entity being known as Raytheon Aircraft. In March 2007, Raytheon divested its aircraft manufacturing business to Hawker Beechcraft Corp., a company formed and controlled by GS Capital Partners and Onex Partners of Canada.
Most Hawker 800 private jets are configured for 7 to 8 passengers and has a range of 2100 NM or 2500 SM. From Toronto the Hawker 800 can fly non stop to most of the lower Caribbean Islands. Heading west bound non stop to Las Vegas is within easy reach. While with a full load the Hawker 800 can not reach the west coast, retuning eastbound to Toronto from LA is no problem.
